We are bringing our Express sessions back. These are sessions of 30 minutes, "down and dirty" on a particular topic. Our current focus is centered on accessibility. This month, we are offering a session titled Accessibility Fundamentals: Tables. This is offered on October 22nd from 9:00 to 9:30 a.m. Join EIT staff for a training covering a fundamental accessibility principle. For this session, we will cover how to build data tables that are understandable and accessible. Learn the do’s and don’ts to create organized, user-friendly tables that are compatible with assistive technology.”Gemini
We’re hosting a workshop on how to use Gemini. Please join us for Gemini: It’s Not Rocket Science (But It’s Close), on October 21st, from 10:30 a.m. to 12 p.m. Artificial intelligence (AI) seems overwhelming, but it’s not rocket science. This session will introduce participants to Gemini, Google’s new Artificial intelligence (AI) tool. Participants will learn how AI works, its benefits and pitfalls, how to engineer a prompt, and how AI is used in Extension. Participants will also have the opportunity to ask questions and demonstrate their use of Gemini. We promise you’ll be launching Gemini to new heights after we finish!Increasing Digital Accessibility
Throughout the year, we will offer sessions designed to increase your knowledge of digital accessibility. Creating Accessible Google and Microsoft Documents will be offered on October 8th from 11:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. You will learn how to identify and address common accessibility issues in various types of documents, including Word documents and Google Docs. The class covers the importance of creating inclusive content and hands-on training with popular accessibility checker tools.Publications Database
This month, Bethany is offering a session, "Publications Database 101," on October 9th from 9:30-10:30 a.m.This session is primarily for specialists, but agents are welcome to join to learn how to navigate the database and find helpful information. Join us to learn how to navigate the NC State Extension Publication Database, see how it connects to our larger web ecosystem, and learn the basics of publishing and revising content.SlickText
Scott is offering two sessions on SlickText, Version 2. The first session will be held on October 1st from 11 a.m. to 12 p.m. The second session will be held on October 10th from 9:00 to 10:00 a.m.This session will give a quick overview of the differences in the new version of SlickText. This is primarily for counties that have already been migrated; however, others who are interested may also attend.Video Education 101
There are several opportunities to attend video training sessions during the month of October. Ben will be offering a short-form video training on October 7th in Rockingham. The training will run from 9:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. and cover short-form content. He is also offering Video Education 101 in Bryson City on October 16th from 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. For all video trainings, please make sure to bring your computer and have Adobe Premiere Pro and Premiere Rush installed on your computer.We look forward to seeing you!
