Tracking User Engagement With ActiveCampaign

(Updated: July 17, 2023, 5:13 a.m.)
We have added an engagement automation to our ActiveCampaign account. As a result, you may notice some new tags have been added to your contacts.
  • Engaged
  • Recent Activity
  • Idle
  • Inactive
From the Contacts menu, you can sort Contacts using these tags to see who is engaged.

Here's how the automation works. It is basically a two-month automation.

When someone opens an email campaign or clicks a link in a message, ActiveCampaign automatically tags them as "Engaged" and adds a "Recent Activity" tag. This allows you to identify the contacts who are actively engaging with our content.

If a contact does not interact further within seven days after the initial activity, the "Recent Activity" tag is automatically removed. This ensures that you focus your efforts on the contacts who are consistently engaging with our campaigns.

If there is no further interaction after the removal of the "Recent Activity" tag, 21 days later, the contact is tagged as "Idle" indicating a lack of recent activity with Extension content. Simultaneously, the "Engaged" tag is removed to reflect their current engagement status accurately.

If a contact remains disengaged for an additional 30 days after being tagged as "Idle," ActiveCampaign adds the "Inactive" tag. The "Idle" tag is removed to indicate their lack of recent activity with Extension content.

Whenever a user opens an email campaign from any of our lists or clicks a link within it, the automation restarts.
