Have you ever been browsing and suddenly a bunch of Mac Security Center notifications appear?  These sites completely take over the desktop, making it almost impossible to do anything.  The sites are not doing anything to the computer, their goal is to get you to call the phone number and then trick you into doing something you shouldn't.

You can wind up on these sites without knowing how you got there. Sometimes you are tricked into clicking a link on a search or an ad on a legitimate site is hijacked and sends you to the bad site.  

What do you do? The first thing is not to panic because that is what the sites are trying to get you to do.  Next is to hold the Command key (⌘) and the Q key.  This is the keyboard shortcut for the Quit command. Chrome requires that you hold the two keys for a second or two. This will quit the app and get rid of the page that is causing issues.  

If the page returns when you restart your web browser or fails to go away, then call the Extension IT helpdesk.

The other annoyance is when your iPhone notifies you that your computer or iPad has been left behind. This is the Find My feature of iCloud.  This can be turned off or modified not to alert if the device is left at a certain location.  Follow the directions from Apple to make changes to this feature.

Please do not hit erase on the Find My app.  This will erase the entire computer or iPad.   

The left behind notices apply to a lot of Apple devices which can also include Airpods and Airtags.  You may want to keep notifications for some, but not all devices.
