MacOS Sequoia

There is a new OS for Macs. Mac OS Sequoia is the newest version of Mac OS. Your computers may be prompting for Mac OS Sequoia to be installed. EIT does not want to have Sequoia installed at this time. Policies are sent out to the computers to try and block the installation of the OS, but the computer may still prompt you. If you do install Sequoia, we don’t expect any issues, but the initial release of the OS can have issues and/or be different in some respects that are unique and take longer to troubleshoot. EIT expects to recommend the installation of Sequoia later this year.

Website issues? Try a different browser.

Sometimes a website will not work for some reason, and there is no indication of why. There are many things that may not work, like popups not showing, new pages not opening, and failing to register a button press, among others. When this happens, it is a good idea to switch to another web browser.

Some websites code and test using just one browser or use features specific to a particular browser.

These are usually web browsers that come installed with the OS, Edge for Windows, or Safari for MacOS. Try switching to the preinstalled OS web browser and see if the website responds as you expect it to. The Macs EIT supports have three different browsers you can try: Chrome, Safari, and Firefox. Within the university, we have run into websites that work with only one of the above browsers, so it can help to try any browser you have ready access to.

Copy the URL from the browser you are using and place it in the browser you want to try. Unfortunately, you will have to redo whatever login procedures the site has. See if the website proceeds past the point where the issue was in the new browser. If it does, note that for future use. If it does not, then try another browser if you have access to one. You can also try mobile browsers, as some websites treat mobile devices differently.
