Collapse ▲If you have not done so yet, you can update your MacOS to MacOS Sonoma. Go to System Settings –> General –> Software Update. The OS will be listed as the update. You can click Update Now and give your password to start the process.
The OS will have to be downloaded first. This can take quite a while, so you may continue using your computer during this time. When the OS is downloaded and ready to install, you will get a prompt to reboot now or to schedule the reboot. Rebooting now will restart your computer, and it will take 20 – 30 minutes for the OS installation to complete. The process is done when you are returned to a login prompt. Scheduling the reboot for later can work, but the computer must be plugged into power to start the process.
Logging in will give you a brief “features” presentation. The changes that are noticeable are small, like cinematic screensavers, moving desktop backgrounds and a change to System Settings. The biggest change may be at the login screen. You will see one person listed: the last person logged in. A click to the side of the login circle accesses other user accounts. The other users will appear and can be selected.
Once MacOS Sonoma is installed, you may need to complete other updates.Go ahead and complete any remaining Mac updates.
