Keeping Your Web Browser Up to Date

(Updated: Nov. 1, 2022, 6:44 a.m.)

Keeping your web browser up to date is one of the most important things you can do to keep your computer functioning properly.

EIT will periodically push out updates to web browsers but not always. You can begin to see performance issues with your web browser if it is more than a few versions behind the current version. Performance issues can include an inability for certain web sites to load properly or in some cases to not load at all. Or you may see that your web browser Extensions are no longer compatible with an outdated version.

It's a good idea to check your web browser version to make sure you are running the current version if you notice certain websites or browser features that are not working properly.

Google Chrome is the most used web browser. Follow these steps from Google to check and update to the latest version. If anyone has any questions about updating Google Chrome (or another web browser), contact the EIT help desk at eithelpdesk@ncsu.edu or 919-513-7000.
