Extension Information Technology does not support PCs in county Extension offices. Exceptions to this are noted below.

In order to have your PC added to the extension office network, NC State approved antivirus software must be installed. This is necessary to ensure the security of the office’s network. Please note that we generally recommend that if your PC is going to be printing to printers on the Extension network, the PC should be configured to use the Extension network. Some offices also have a county network available. If you would like to use your county network, please contact your county IT department.

Networked PCs are increasingly vulnerable to malicious attack and viruses. We recommend that PC users in county offices consult their county IT group for advice and instruction on updating operating system files on networked Windows PCs. In addition, we recommend the regular use of an anti-spyware program, but this should be done in consultation with your county IT support personnel.

Files created or stored on PCs should be backed up regularly to ensure compliance with North Carolina records retention laws.

EIT and the Information Management Agents do not offer training on PC-specific applications.
