New Tool for Reviewing Old Site Content

Old Content Review Tool screen imageExtension IT is proud of the fact that in 1993, we launched the first Extension system web server. It was also the first web server at NC State University and only the second in the entire state of North Carolina. A side effect of our early presence on the web is that we have some old content in our web system. In fact, some content in our current county website system dates back to 2005.

As a part of our efforts to improve the quality of content on our websites, Extension IT has developed an easy-to-use Old Content Review tool that allows County-based Extension personnel to review this older content and indicate whether it should be kept or deleted. Any County content dated from January 1, 2012, or earlier will be removed from your site on December 31, 2018, unless you decide that it is still appropriate.

County-based Extension employees have access to use the tool to review content on any County site for which they have editing access. That means this task can be shared by everyone in the office. However, we recommend only one user access the tool at a time (so that changes have time to sync). Older content that you want to keep will be moved to ‘Draft’ status so you can update and re-publish it. Content that is marked to delete, or not marked at all, will be archived and taken down from your website on December 31, 2018.

If you have any questions about this process or about using the Old Content Review tool, please contact the CES Help Desk by emailing or calling 919-513-7000.

Thank you for keeping our websites fresh and full of high-quality content!
